Qantas makes passengers remove Dell batteries

Following the news that certain Dell batteries have a higher-then-average risk of melting, catching on fire, and exploding, Qantas Airlines has requested that passengers remove the batteries from all Dell laptops before flying. This even covers Dell laptop models not included in Dell’s recall program. You can read about Dell’s recall program by clicking here.

AUSSIE AIRLINE Qantas has made the first move to protect planes from problems caused by defective Dell batteries.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, passengers can still check and carry on their Dells, but only use them when batteries are removed.

  1. I bought a replacement battery for my Dell laptop about a month ago from http://www.laptopsforless.com/laptopbattery and it works great. Is there any reason to think that a replacement laptop battery would be any worse than the manufacturers? Is my battery at any risk?
