#146: Best in Showroom | October 2011 Special Issue

We’ve done a special issue of Best in Showroom because we have so much going on here before November hits! At Apple’s Let’s Talk iPhone event, a new phone, the iPhone 4S, was announced, as was a new white iPod touch, iCloud, iOS 5 and numerous other software updates. We have details on that below.

Additionally, we are excited to be a part of an upcoming iPad Painting class on October 29. You may know of talented local artist Corliss Blakely, who will be teaching the three hour class at North Hero House. Check out the details—it’s only $25 to sign up and you get a free Hammerhead Stylus for your iPad!

Even though we’re not usually found in the stores, there’s a lot that we’re working on behind the scenes and it’s safe to say that all of us here enjoy a little bit of the retail atmosphere this time of year! As always, thanks for reading Best in Showroom, and come in to see us soon.

We Remember Steve Jobs
By Kali Hilke, Design & Marketing Manager

We’re feeling a great sense of loss over here, as Steve is largely responsible for why we do what we do. Our founder, Don Mayer, shared his thoughts on Steve’s passing and many people here recalled their fondness for Steve, Apple and the Mac.

Read Don’s thoughts here.

Rest in peace, Steve. The world is less colorful without you.

iPhone 4S Released
By Kali Hilke, Design & Marketing Manager

The iPhone 4S was released today after a week’s worth of preorders. Given that Apple broke a record with over 1 million ordered within a 24-hour timeframe, we know this is going to be a popular phone!

We’re fulfilling our preorders first, but we have limited stock in each of our retail locations (check for availability).

So if you’re close by, feel free to stop in to our Manchester, NH, Waitsfield, VT and S. Burlington, VT stores. (Hurry, though—they’re going extremely fast!)

A Whole Lotta Updating Goin' On

Learn to Paint on Your iPad

Sign up for a special class taught by artist Corliss Blakely on October 29.

She will be teaching users how to “paint” using an iPad—with amazing results. Don’t believe us? Check out her website!

There is also a dinner held the night before, on October 28, where Corliss will be painting quietly throughout.

Class: $25 pp +free Stylus; Dinner: $35

Contact the North Hero House at 802.372.4732 to register for either—ask about combination/overnight packages.

Introducing the White iPod touch

At the Let’s Talk iPhone event on October 4th, Apple announced a new member of the iPod family: the white iPod touch 4G.

Like the black iPod touch 4G, the white model will be available in 8GB ($199.99), 32GB ($299.99) and 64GB ($399.99) configurations.

The white iPod touch will be available early next week in our retail stores. Stop by and check it out!
