#180: Best in Showroom | June 2014

June...Already!
By Taylor Amon, Manager, Key West

Hello from sunny Key West! It’s hard to believe that 2014 is already half over. Winter is now safely behind us, but in Key West, we joke that we only have two seasons anyway — hot and hotter. This will be my first summer here, though I am already planning a vacation back to Vermont to escape the heat that everyone keeps talking about.

Well, enough with my complaining about warm and sunny weather — let’s chat about what’s exciting about Small Dog this month! With Father’s Day and high school graduations still on the horizon, our Dads and Grads specials are in full swing.

As we covered in our last special edition of Best in Showroom, you’ll get $100 off any Mac purchase with AppleCare, plus a free Hammerhead sleeve. Canon all-in-ones with AirPrint, the MX522 and MG5420, are **just $50 when purchased with a Mac as well. iPads, All iPads (except iPad 2) are $30 off with bundled extras, too. All specials are valid until the end of the month.

Something new since we last checked in: our special financing promotion is back! Qualified applicants could get up to **18 months of no-interest financing! To get all the details, visit Smalldog.com/finance or see a retail sales associate.

I hope you enjoy this issue of Best in Showroom; there are some great articles in this issue.

Enjoy,

Taylor Amon

WWDC: Monday 6/2
By Patrick McCormack, Assistant Manager, Burlington

As we approach the next Apple announcement at WWDC, Apple analysts, tech speculators and fanboy (and girl) bloggers are circling the surfacing artifacts looking for clues. As you can imagine, everyone at Small Dog is always excited to see what is next from Apple, whether it’s new software or hardware.

The primary focus will most likely be the¬†successor to Mavericks — OS X 10.10. In addition, we’re expecting a preview of iOS 8 with the introduction of the rumored “Healthbook” app. This, of course, fans the flames of the iWatch rumors, though popular opinion suggest we won’t be seeing Apple’s first smart watch for a little while longer.

If you’re looking for hardware announcements, you’re out of luck, as the WWDC’s live-streaming keynote from Apple are traditionally focused on software. Last year, we were introduced to iOS 7 with radically-updated aesthetics and new security features.

As far fetched as it sounds, I would personally love to see Apple break into the home automation market. This would most likely be a software platform that existing home automation companies could attach themselves to and join an all new, unified, iOS-friendly system for the household.

Watch it here and check in with us on Twitter @hellosmalldog as we live-tweet the keynote. Head over to our blog afterwards for the full recap!

New Beats by Dre Are On the Way: June 1
By Joe Lytton, Assistant Manager, Key West

Beats by Dr. Dre has introduced their new lineup for 2014 and we are very excited that we’ll be offering the latest here in our stores.

Beats Studio Wireless
What’s in a name? The Studios — the headphones that made headphones cool — have a new look and have added a wireless version, among other new features. The new Studio series was released on June 1, and they’re already getting attention for their sleek new design and rechargeable batteries that are expected to give listeners 20 hours of audio bliss. The new design also makes the headphones lighter and, according to Beats, more comfortable. When the headphones are available, you’ll be able to pick up your pair for a mere $299.99.

Beats Solo 2
The latest edition of the Beats Solo is the Solo 2 line — like its predecessor, Solo HD Drenched in Color, they feature a smaller size than the Studio line and high quality sound with clean, crisp bass, but with an all-new design, better audio and more comfort, specifically in the ear cans. The Solo 2 line, released June 1 and in-stock, is available in White, Silver, Red, Pink, and Black, and retails for $199.99.

Beats Pill 2.0
The new Beats Pill has the same capabilities of the Pill XL, but in mini form and with supercharged features. It has wireless capability with included Bluetooth, and you can even connect to another Pill with NFC (near field communication). It is extremely lightweight — even lighter than some of those portable mobile chargers — making it easier to carry around. Other features include a long battery life, and a 5-light LED battery fuel gauge to indicate how much charge is left. The Beats Pill 2.0 is available in Red, Black, White, Silver, and Blue and retails for $199.99.

There’s more to the Beats line that you can read on our blog, but we encourage you to come on in and see what’s new in person! For a limited time, we also have all previous Beats models on clearance while supplies last, so hurry!

Customer Appreciation Night: 6/12

Mark your calendars for Thursday, June 12th from 5:30-7:30 — it’s Customer Appreciation Night at our South Burlington retail location! With Dads and Grads promos, refreshments, giveaways, demos, and special one-night-only deals, you won’t want to miss out!

We’ll be raffling prizes throughout the evening, and of course, we will have plenty of staff on-hand to help you with your shopping list. We’re looking forward to seeing all of you on this special evening, because without you, our loyal customers, we would not be your local one-stop shop for everything Apple.

Tell your friends, family and co-workers about this special night, and if you haven’t already, become a fan on Facebook so that you can get up-to-the-minute store news there!

3-Day Sale: Encore!

Starting Friday, June 6th, and running through Sunday June 8th, South Burlington will host another special 3-day sales event during normal store hours.

We’ll have all kinds of items on sale; most iPhone cases will check in around $5 and iPad cases can be found for as low as $10, but some items will even be as low as $1! These are discontinued items, customer returns or items that simply have damaged packaging. If you’re a bargain hunter, then this is the weekend for you!

While you’re shopping these deals, don’t forget about the big savings for the Dads and Grads on your list and pick up some great deals on computers, iPads and more.

Waste Away No Longer: Bring Your eWaste to Us Anytime!

Chances are, you’ve heard of our eWaste Recycling Events and have probably participated in one or two. But did you know that we accept electronic waste in our stores every day? For free?

So, even though we haven’t yet scheduled another collection event, you can still safely get rid of those computer-related waste products that are cluttering up your life!

Any ewaste we collect gets broken down piece-by-piece here in the US, and many parts are examined to see if any can be reused for other devices.

Hard drives and anything that has sensitive data gets completely (and securely) destroyed, so you can rest assured that nothing will get into the wrong hands.

Read more about the process here.

So come on into any of our retail locations with your old Macs, PCs, printers, or even old chargers and know that it will be disposed of properly.

We are here to make your world just a little bit easier — as always, we are always by your side!
